memories

  • This crossing was cratered on the Northern side a good distance from the border bridge. The crater was very large; the tour guide remembers actually standing in the crater.

  • This was a remote area and the British Army would have travelled via helicopter transport.

  • Close to the bridge was the last house in the area where an old couple lived ("Kelly's") which was known as a "Stop Over House", where people who were traveling North or South could sleep overnight. The house is not there anymore but their relatives erected a stone in memory of the couple.
