The road on this crossing is the main Ballyconnell - Derrylin Road which was spiked then blocked in the early 1970's.

The road was reopened by locals and the British Army did not block it again, but they put in place a fortified checkpoint just over the border in the Northern Ireland.

The Murray Brothers lived in the house right on the border the border ran through the middle of their house.

The manned British Army checkpoints at this crossing were attacked a number of times.
