This crossing was cratered by the British Army a number of times.
The was a busy crossing, as businesses were situated on both sides of the border giving employment to the local community. People would have cycled and walked across the cratered crossing if it was not passable by car.
The crossing was only filled in a small number of times due to the fact that the British Army were able to keep a watch on the crossing from the KiIlyvilla watch tower.
