  • The crossing was spiked originally in the late 1950s.

  • The road was blown up twice by the British Army.

  • The crossing does not follow its original path anymore. It was changed in the early 1980s for road safety reasons and to allow a local farmer to bring cattle across the road safely.

  • A British soldier was killed in a field that overlooked the crossing on the northern side after he had triggered three land mines in January 1971.
