  • This crossing was blown up and blocked a number of times by the British Army, each time it was refilled and cleared of any barriers by the local residents.

  • The concrete barriers were so large and heavy the people involved in clearing the roads devised a simple method to remove them. The digger driver would dig a hole in front of the barrier and pull the concrete barriers into the hole, using it to make the new foundations of the reopened road.
