This crossing was blocked with two concrete barriers. The locals removed one barrier but then retreated into the south as the British Army had landed by helicopter in a field beside the crossing.

Old Aghalane bridge

The bridge at this crossing was blown up in November 1972, a temporary bridge was placed over it but this was removed and it was never reopened. In 1999 it was replaced by the George Mitchell Memorial Bridge on the new road.

Clady Bridge

The crossing was left open; the British Army had a heavily fortified permanent base in Clady that you had to pass through before you got to the Clady bridge crossing. The British Army base was attacked many times.
